Failure Analysis

We investigate the root causes
Failure Analysis
If damage or a claim occurs despite careful production, our Failure Analysis department will be pleased to assist you.
Failure Analysis
- Documentation and chemical analysis of contamination
Material failure and manufacturing defects
- Material characterization (see Product Analysis)
- Chemical characterization of inclusions, defects, contaminants, …
- Interface analysis for adhesion or wetting problems, painting defects, and coating problems
- Verification of material properties and component specifications, …
- Simulation of critical process parameters
The interpretation of measurement results and their correlation with the manufacturing process are particular strengths of Analytik Service Obernburg’s failure analysis. You receive not only data, but also an expert interpretation.

Failure Analysis Process
Failure analysis is a process in which the causes of damage to materials or products are investigated and identified. The process may vary depending on the type of damage and material, but generally includes the following steps:
Failure Inspection: The damaged material or product is thoroughly examined, and background information is collected to understand the context of the damage.
Sampling: Representative samples of the damaged material are taken and prepared for further investigation.
Analysis: The samples are examined using various analytical methods, including microscopy (light microscopy and scanning electron microscopy), spectroscopy (IR spectroscopy, XPS), and chemical analyses.
Reporting: The results of the analysis are documented and summarized in a report.
Action: Based on the results, measures are proposed to resolve the problem and restore the safety and reliability of the material or product.
It is important that qualified and experienced experts conduct the analysis to ensure reliable and precise results.
