Due to many years of affiliation with the research department of a major chemical industry corporation, our team possesses comprehensive knowledge and experience in physical and chemical fundamentals. The service center is independent of any production, which ensures no conflicts of interest regarding the utilization of research and project results.
History
Analytik Service Obernburg was part of the major corporation Akzo Nobel until 1999. As part of central research, the analytics department supported the development of new chemicals, chemical fibers (cellulose fibers and synthetic fibers), membranes, and coatings. As a decline in research activities was already noticeable at that time, the analytics department increasingly opened up to external companies, especially from the automotive supplier and medical technology sectors, while the central laboratory, which was affiliated with production, continued to primarily focus on testing raw materials, auxiliary materials, and the various fiber products manufactured at the site.
With Akzo Nobel’s focus on paint production, the Obernburg fiber site, and thus also its research, was spun off into the newly founded fiber company Acordis GmbH. After a short transition period, this company was split into individual entities, and the analytics department was assigned to the site operator, Mainsite GmbH, founded in 2003. Mainsite consolidated the non-production site services.
Accreditation to ISO 17025
Our accreditation according to DIN EN ISO 17025, a quality standard for testing laboratories valid throughout Europe, is a fundamental prerequisite for many clients to place an order. Specifically, IATF 16949, which is valid in the automotive industry, requires the engagement of ISO 17025 accredited laboratories.
Analytik Service Obernburg has been accredited according to ISO 17025 or its predecessor standard EN 45001 for over 25 years. Numerous comparative and round robin tests demonstrate that our laboratory belongs to the top tier.
