Raw material analysis

Impeccable raw materials are a prerequisite for high-quality products – but can you blindly rely on specifications?

Raw materials and auxiliary materials

Our raw materials group analyses your raw materials and auxiliary materials to exclude material mix-ups and to determine the content of active ingredients, pollutants or impurities. We offer a variety of chemical analysis methods, as well as spectroscopic and chromatographic procedures.

Our service includes routine checks on incoming goods, release measurements for medical devices and detailed analyses of transport contamination. A trace analysis prevents unwanted substances from REACH regulations or RoHS lists from entering your product.

polymer
characterization

Polymer characterization deals with a wide variety of plastics as well as their fillers and additives as part of quality assurance and process control. Does the content of glass fibers, flame retardants, matting agents, etc. meet the specifications? The content of these typical additives can be measured using X-ray fluorescence analysis or by means of the ignition residue. For polymer materials, the residual moisture is also important, which can lead to moisture streaks or degradation through hydrolysis during injection molding. Measurements of the solution viscosity or end group determinations for polyester allow the damage to the polymer to be quantified.

The molecular weight distribution influences the solubility of a plastic and can be very important for the further processing. Physical quantities such as melting temperature, density and color can also be measured.

Some polymer properties cannot be determined directly from the granulate. In such cases, suitable test specimens are made from the granulate in order to carry out mechanical tests or physical tests in accordance with standards.
